Mount Prospect, Schaumburg men sent to prison for 2017 beating

Two men who beat a Mount Prospect man in a dispute over drugs were sentenced to five years in prison.

Francisco Dorado, 34, of Mount Prospect and John Egelston, 30, of Schaumburg pleaded guilty to aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, court records show. They were sentenced Thursday.

On Nov. 18, 2017, Dorado and Egelston accused the victim of stealing drugs from Dorado, said Assistant Cook County State's Attorney Denise Loiterstein.

Dorado and Egelston punched the victim in his face, head and body, causing cuts, bruises and a collapsed lung that required surgery to repair, she said.

Both men were fined $429. Egelston received credit for 483 days in custody and Dorado received credit for 564 days in custody, court records show.
