Bulls assistant Myers resigns
The Bulls coaching staff will undergo more changes after longtime assistant Pete Meyers resigned for personal reasons.
Myers first joined the Bulls coaching staff in December, 2001 after Bill Cartwright replaced Tim Floyd as head coach. He stayed as an assistant coach, shifting briefly to a scouting role, until 2010. Myers then spent three seasons with the Golden State Warriors before returning to the Bulls in 2015.
While head coach Jim Boylen reportedly plans to hire former Nets assistant Chris Fleming as the Bulls' new lead assistant, Myers was expected to return next season. According to the Chicago Tribune, Myers recently remarried and has a newborn at home.
"Pete is a terrific person and has been an important part of our organization for years," Bulls vice president John Paxson said. "We will always support him and want what's best for he and his family."
For now, the Bulls' coaching staff includes Boylen, Fleming, Shawn Respert, Nate Loenser, Dean Cooper and Karen Stack Umlauf. It's not clear if they'll add anyone to replace Myers. The teams also needs a new coach for the Windy City Bulls, since Charlie Henry left for the University of Alabama.
Myers, who spent three years with the Bulls as a player, was a contributor to one very memorable play in Bulls history. The team recently sent out video on social media celebrating the 25th anniversary of Scottie Pippen's disrespectful dunk over Patrick Ewing in the 1994 playoffs against the Knicks. Myers got the assist on that play.
