Hoffman Estates man accused of sexually assaulting woman he met on social media

A 27-year-old Hoffman Estates man was ordered held on $250,000 bail Tuesday on charges he sexually assaulted a woman he met through social media.

Prosecutors say the 22-year-old woman accepted a friend request from Ludie Iverson and began a conversation with him Saturday afternoon. He invited the woman to his home and sent a ride-share service to pick her up and drop her off at a convenience store, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Molly Bruno.

Bruno said the driver dropped the woman off at the wrong location and Iverson sent a second ride-share driver to take her to the one he indicated.

Authorities said Iverson met the woman there. After making a purchase at a nearby liquor store, which was captured on video surveillance, they walked to Iverson's home in the 600 block of Mohave Street, Bruno said. They entered the home, where Iverson began kissing the woman, Bruno said. She asked him to stop, but he put his hands around her neck, choked her and "threatened to break her face," Bruno said.

Iverson is accused of sexually assaulting the woman. She struck him and knocked him to the ground, then ran to a nearby church, where she called a relative, Bruno said.

The woman, who was treated at Amita Health St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, identified Iverson in a photo lineup, Bruno said.

He next appears in court on June 6.
