At Work participants discover new foods and recipes
Fittest Loser At Work participants have been keeping up with new healthy eating habits and love sharing new recipes.
Barb Merner, team captain for the Fitz Chem LLC's “Skinny Dippers” says, “Lori Tobler shares her recipes with us. We all enjoyed her roasted vegetables, in addition to our salad one day.”
Many teams also have healthy potlucks so they can try new recipes and become inspired.
Michelle Lopez, team captain for AVS Companies' “Out My Weigh” says, “We had one potluck luncheon that was a huge success! Everyone asked Eileen for her White Chicken Chili recipe. “
Since diet is such a huge part of being healthy, a lot of participants have been sending messages with pictures and recipes to fellow team members.
Chelsea Garcia of Littman Bros Lighting's “FIT LITTman” says, “We love texting each other our meals when we are not at work.”
Teams are experimenting, trying new foods or alternative options.
Martha Sarabia, team captain of Tempco Electric Heater Corp's “Chicas Fitness” says, “Sometimes we share milkshakes and different grains. One example is almond milk with fruit (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, etc.) and sometimes with powdered Peruvian maca.”
Sometimes it's tough finding a healthy meal on the go that's quick and easy.
Lorrene Conino, team captain of Salon Lorrene's “Cut it Out” says, “Our team has really enjoyed eating the Starkist flavored tuna packets on plain rice cakes for our quick and easy lunch. Eating raw vegetables with hummus is also a favorite of one of our team members.”
Attention stir-fry fans, riced cauliflower makes a great low carb rice alternative.
Jenny McGoon of Mount Prospect Park District's “POWER Crew” says, “I have been LOVING riced cauliflower. I make a lot of stir-frys with it. I also like using coconut aminos instead of soy sauce.”
One of the biggest difficulties of the Fittest Loser Challenge is fighting bad food temptations.
Aileen Tischauser, team captain of Elk Grove Park District's “Elk Strong” says, “Our Monday morning workouts/discussions have turned into ‘Yay Me/You' for passing up pizza and cupcakes at a weekend party. And knowing how to choose the better choices. They have found that the support from each other is priceless. It's GREAT!!”
If At Work teams can continue this kind of support, then they should have no problem continuing their healthy habits when the Fittest Loser Challenge ends.
