Television signal cuts out on North Carolina-Duke telecast

Some viewers watching the North Carolina-Duke men's basketball game missed much of the second half of the telecast, which a cable system blamed on a technical issue.

WRAL Vice President and General Manager Joel Davis said in an email Thursday the disruption came about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, at which time there were approximately 10 minutes left in the game and North Carolina leading 65-51. The Tar Heels won, 88-72.

Scott Przywansky, spokesman for Spectrum Cable, said Thursday in an email that a hardware issue interrupted programming on several channels Wednesday night in the Raleigh area.

The game was telecast both on the Atlantic Coast Conference network of stations which carried the Raycom Sports production, as well as on ESPN. Some viewers reported losing both signals.
