Police: Man tried to lure Prospect High School student into his car

Arlington Heights police have arrested a Prospect Heights man accused of trying to lure a Prospect High School student into his car as she walked home last month.

Stephen M. Salinas, 31, of the 0-100 block of Wildwood Drive, faces one count of disorderly conduct in connection with the Jan. 23 incident, police said.

According to police, Salinas approached the 15-year-old girl in the area of Kensington Road, Phelps Avenue and Miner Street from his tan four-door Kia Soul, and asked if she needed a ride. Once she declined, Salinas drove south from the area, stopped near the victim again, rolled down the window and stared at her for some time before leaving, police said.

He was identified through a photographic lineup and arrested Feb. 14, police said.
