Authorities: Officer shoots man who pointed gun at police

ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a police officer has shot and wounded a 24-year-old man who allegedly pointed a weapon at officers in central Indiana.

Anderson police spokesman Maj. Joel Sandefur says the man was shot in the arm around 5 a.m. Wednesday during the execution of a search warrant.

The Herald Bulletin reports the man was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Sandefur says the man wasn't the target of the Madison County Drug Task Force warrant. He said other people were inside the residence, but they weren't injured.

The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
