Christ Church to perform Vivaldi's 'Gloria' and 'The Passion' drama this spring

Christ Church, 501 Oak Brook Road in Oak Brook, will hold two major musical presentations this spring.

On Sunday, March 3, the church will host a performance of Vivaldi's "Gloria" and selected works by Mozart at 3 p.m.

Vivaldi's "Gloria" and selected works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart will be presented by the Christ Church 100-voice Chancel Choir with professional orchestra and soloists. Admission is free.

On Sunday, April 14, "The Passion: A Modern Musical Drama" will be performed during the 9 and 10:45 a.m. services. Since its premiere in 2004 at Christ Church, "The Passion" by composer Greg Nelson has become a popular Palm Sunday tradition for the local community.

"The Passion" powerfully tells the story of Jesus' life, death and resurrection through song.

This 50-minute modern, multimedia musical drama is presented by the Christ Church 100-voice Chancel Choir, professional orchestra and professional soloists, including members of the Lyric Opera of Chicago.

This is a family-friendly presentation. Child care is provided.

Christ Church also seeks to reach those who cannot come to services through its online media library, livestream services twice Sunday morning, as well as its broadcast ministry on radio and television. Worship is at 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 and 10:45 a.m. Sunday.

The church also has a Downers Grove location at 3500 Lacey Road. Worship is at 10:45 a.m. Sundays.
