Northwest Community Hospital employees gave a hero's welcome home to one of their own Monday.
Emergency department physician Dr. Jonathan Garlovsky, a U.S. Army Reserve captain, returned to the Arlington Heights hospital Monday morning to nearly 75 people lined up and down the hospital's main lobby hallway. They waved flags and gave hugs as the doctor, his wife, Trisha (a former emergency department nurse), and their two young sons, ages 1 and 2, walked in.
Garlovsky, 43, of Long Grove, spent three months as an officer in charge of the Emergency Medical Treatment Center, serving with a unit that operates the United States Military Hospital at Camp Arifjan in Kuwait. He joined the military in 2010 in his third year of residency training at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. He previously served a three-month tour in Kuwait in 2014.
