Believe Project returns for fifth year of helping others

In this season of giving, of sharing, of helping those in need, it's important that we continue to believe.

Believe in each other. Believe in the value of paying it forward. Believe that whatever happens, we can try to make our little corner of the world a better place.

So for the fifth straight holiday season, we're inviting you to tell us how you would use $100 - not for yourself, but for someone else. Thanks to a donor who has seen firsthand what a little kindness can do, our Believe Project aims to celebrate the true meaning of comfort and joy.

The donor provides us with 31 envelopes, each containing a $100 bill, and we send them to readers who submit the most compelling stories for helping others.

Each day in December in the paper and online, we'll share the stories of deserving recipients, of people who need a hand, who could use a boost, who deserve a pat on the back.

In the past, the money has gone to folks facing challenges with health, finances or even tragedies. But it's also gone to those who always seem willing to help others, who deserve a little something for themselves, or who simply could use a little recognition.

Better still, some of those who submit nominations match the $100 we send and sometimes readers are inspired to jump in and donate to help others as well.

To tell us who you think deserves $100, visit https://events.dailyherald.com/believe/ no later than Friday, Nov. 30. Of course, sooner is better because our benefactor will start choosing recipients later this month.
