Incumbent holding early lead in Lake County Clerk race

Lake Forest Republican Carla Wyckoff has an early lead to retain her job as Lake County Clerk.

With about 52 percent of 415 precincts reporting late Tuesday, unofficial totals showed Wyckoff received 32,454 votes for around 52.8 percent. Democrat Robin O'Connor received 29,011 votes for around 47.2 percent.

Early voting, vote by mail, provisional ballots have not been included in the count yet. All totals are considered unofficial until the votes are canvassed at a later date.

Wyckoff, 70, first won election to the county position in 2014. O'Connor, 63, of Libertyville, is a retired Illinois schoolteacher who now teaches in Wisconsin and former Libertyville Township trustee.
