Schneider upset by newcomer Morrison in bid for fourth term on Cook County board
In a significant upset, three-term incumbent and Illinois Republican Party Chairman Tim Schneider appears to have lost his 15th District seat on the Cook County Board to political newcomer Kevin Morrison.
Morrison, 28, of Elk Grove Village, had 46,590 votes — about 54 percent of the total — to Schneider's 39,812, with about 92 percent of precincts reporting.
Schneider, 62, of Bartlett, has held the seat since 2006. He was targeted by Cook County Democrats, who poured more than a quarter-million dollars into Morrison's campaign.
Schneider campaigned as a check and balance to the Democratic-controlled county board and said he wanted to pare down county spending. Morrison's campaign focused on providing more health care resources to the district, particularly mental health resources.
