Incumbent Lenert re-elected to Kane County District 5 seat

Republican Bill Lenert will serve another 4-year term representing District 5 on the Kane County Board.

With all 12 precincts reporting Tuesday, Lenert beat out Democratic challenger Sandra King, 5,431 votes to 4,161, according to unofficial tallies. Both candidates are Sugar Grove residents.

Lenert was first elected to the county board in 2014 and has become an ally to board Chairman Chris Lauzen. With his extensive experience in the health insurance business, he was directed earlier this year to explore a change in the county's insurance provider, though board members ultimately chose to stick with Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
