Authorities: Ex-school finance official stole credit card points from district

A Naperville woman has been charged with stealing more than $11,000 worth of My Bank … My Rewards credit card points from her former employer, Addison Elementary District 4.

DuPage County Judge Joseph Bugos issued a $10,000 arrest warrant on Oct. 25 for Marcia L. Boyan, 50, of the 2000 block of Oak Court. Boyan turned herself in to the DuPage jail on Wednesday afternoon, posted bail and was released.

Boyan, who most recently served as the chief finance officer for Naperville Unit District 203, is charged with one count of theft of governmental property in excess of $10,000, one count of theft in excess of $10,000, and two counts of official misconduct.

Prosecutors say Boyan was the assistant superintendent for business of the Addison school district between February 2016 and April 2017 when they believe she stole more than 900,000 My Bank … My Rewards credit card points earned on the district's credit cards for personal use.

"Through her alleged actions, (Boyan) abused the trust placed in her by Addison School District 4 for her own personal gain," State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a written statement. "I would like to thank authorities at Addison School District 4 for bringing this matter to our attention and for their cooperation throughout the investigation."

Boyan resigned from District 203 prior to this school year.
