Montana State names Matt Miller offensive coordinator

BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) - Montana State football coach Jeff Choate made some mid-season coaching changes, elevating receivers coach Matt Miller to offensive coordinator and primary play-caller.

ABC Fox Montana reports Choate cited the team's offensive predictability in firing play-caller Bob Cole and reducing the responsibilities of offensive coordinator Brian Armstrong. Armstrong will continue to coach the tight ends and help with the running game.

Choate says the Bobcats' offensive production needs to increase.

Montana State (4-3, 2-2 Big Sky) was shut out in the final 35 minutes of its 34-24 loss at No. 7 Weber State Saturday, generating 80 yards on 32 plays. The team was unable to put together long drives. The Bobcats are at Idaho State next Saturday.

Miller is in his third season at Montana State. He was a standout receiver at Boise State with 3,049 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns. His senior year was cut short by an ankle injury.
