Endorsement: Daily Herald endorses Pappas over Winger in Illinois House District 45

The choice in Illinois House District 45 is a difficult one between incumbent Christine Winger of Wood Dale and attorney Diane Pappas of Itasca, Winger is a moderate Republican who's been involved in local politics for 15 years. Pappas is a bright, common-sense Democrat with a compelling personal story not only of her childhood journey from Poland to an adult life of achievement in America but also of the lessons she has learned from the challenges that confronted her as an immigrant along the way. We like Winger. In fact, we've endorsed her twice before for state representative and we liked her before that as a member of the Wood Dale City Council. But despite Winger's edge in experience, the master of the issues in this race clearly is Pappas. We endorse her.
