Aurora man charged with robbery and aggravated battery

A 27-year-old Aurora man is facing charges after he was accused of robbing another man, officials said.

Luis A. Aguado, of the 400 block of South Spencer Street, has been charged with robbery and two counts of aggravated battery, according to the Aurora Police Department.

Aguado approached a 37-year-old man on the 800 block of Marion Avenue around 2:25 a.m. Sept. 4 and yanked a chain - valued at $200 - from the man's neck, police said.

The man chased Aguado around the block to Seminary Avenue and Fouth Street, where the two fought; Aguado beat the victim and ran away, according to police.

Aguado was found less than a half-mile away with the stolen chain at his feet, officials said.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was treated for lacerations and released.

Aguado is being held at the Kane County jail on $50,000 bail.
