Chicago activist announces Labor Day march near airport

CHICAGO (AP) - A Chicago activist who helped organize a protest march that briefly shut down Lake Shore Drive this month now wants to disrupt traffic with a Labor Day march on an expressway near O'Hare International Airport.

At a Wednesday news conference, the Rev. Gregory Livingston said the anti-violence march will take place on Labor Day on the Kennedy Expressway.

Livingston says he's not talked to city officials about his plans but says he continues to demand the resignation of Mayor Rahm Emanuel. The planned march is also part of a continuing effort to secure more resources for neighborhoods where the bulk of the city's shootings take place.

Another march in July organized by a Roman Catholic priest shut down traffic along the Dan Ryan Expressway on the city's South Side.
