New Clemson women's hoops coach signs ex-Florida player

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - New Clemson coach Amanda Butler has added one of her former Florida players as graduate transfer in all-Southeastern Conference defensive team member Simone Westbrook.

The school announced the addition of the 5-foot-8 Westbrook on Friday.

Westbrook spent two seasons with the Gators, yet missed her senior year because of a torn knee ligament. She was granted a seventh year of eligibility by the NCAA in June, according to Clemson. Westbrook can play immediately for the Tigers.

Butler was hired in April. She spent 10 seasons at Florida until she was let go after the 2016-17 season.

Westbrook started 13 games in the 2015-16 season, averaging eight points and 2.4 assists. She led the Gators with more than two steals a game.
