District 300 welcomes students back Aug. 14

Community Unit District 300 would like to remind drivers that the 2018-2019 school year begins Tuesday, Aug. 14; preschool students begin Wednesday, Aug. 15.

Elementary schools will run from 8 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., middle schools from 8:55 a.m. to 3:40 p.m., and high schools from 7:30 a.m. to 2:58 p.m.

As a new school year begins, District 300 would like to remind drivers to use caution when:

• Driving through school zones;

• Approaching crosswalks where students may be crossing;

• Following school buses, as they stop frequently. Remember not to pass a bus with its stop arm extended, as students may not be visible as they attempt to cross the road.

Additionally, it may take a few weeks for the traffic patterns to adjust to the start of a new school year. Busses, student drivers, and parents will add to the traffic pattern, so allow yourself additional time each morning to ensure a safe and stress-free commute.

District 300 welcomes students to the 2018-2019 school year and they look forward to celebrating the first day of classes on Tuesday, Aug. 14. On the first day, the school district invites parents and guardians to share in the excitement by posting photos on Twitter and Instagram using #D300FirstDay.
