Lindenfest opens with games, pageants
The village of Lindenhurst kicked off its annual Lindenfest celebration Thursday featuring carnival rides, bingo and food.
The festival began with opening ceremonies at 5:45 p.m., followed by the pageants for the titles of Little Miss, Junior Miss and Miss Lindenhurst 2018.
Friday's entertainment includes Saucy Jack with the music of the '70s through today on stage at 7 p.m. and the Goddesses of Rock at 9:30 p.m.
On Saturday, the Northsiders barbershop quartet will perform at 5 p.m., followed by country artist Flecher Rockwell at 7 p.m. and Tom Petty tribute band the PettyBreakers at 9:30 p.m. A battle of the bands will take place all day Sunday.
The annual Lindenfest Parade begins at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The parade will line up near Lindenhurst's Millennium Park, step off from Country Place and Sand Lake roads, and proceed west on Sand Lake to Valley. The theme for this year's parade is "Dreaming of Disney."
