Tyler, Reinhart bring Ribfest to rockin' close
The sale of those little wet towel things likely will dip this week in Naperville with Saturday's closing of the Exchange Club's four-day Ribfest celebration in Knoch Park.
It's an annual rite of summer and even if it sometimes gets a little messy, we'll miss the chance to go whole hog munching on ribs and listening to some tunes and, this year for sure, keeping an eye on those threatening clouds.
Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler and Wheeling native and "American Idol" finalist Haley Reinhart closed the 31st annual festival on Saturday night.
"We were here last year; it's a great fest, said Roger Young of Bolingbrook. "My favorite part of coming here is seeing Steven Tyler. He rocks."
The festival is all for a good cause, of course - proceeds benefit programs to combat child abuse and domestic abuse.
It's also a chance for folks to come together to enjoy the company of others and celebrate the season.
Felicia Powell, formerly of Lisle currently lives in Colorado. "I come back every summer to enjoy Ribfest. "The entertainment is awesome, plus I get a chance to visit with friends," Powell said.
Best of all, it's four days when you don't have to worry if you missed a spot of sauce on your chin. Those concerns are for another day.
