Grilling classes, parties cook up excitement

The three Weber Grill Restaurants in the Chicago area - located in Schaumburg, Lombard and Chicago - are experts at letting guests enjoy the delicious taste of backyard grilling.

They know and have built their business around the fact that everyone loves the ambience of food cooking on the grill - the smell, the sizzling sound and, of course, the delicious meals that are the end result.

The restaurants offer Chicago-area residents that wonderful experience of outdoor grilling year-round, at both public and private venues. While Weber invites you to any of its locations to enjoy its dining rooms or patios, restaurant is also happy to bring the experience to you.

Weber offers catering services including both conventional catering delivery and an on-site grilling service called "Weber on Wheels" or WOW, through which grillmasters prepare the food on site for graduation celebrations, baby showers, company picnics, weddings, family reunions … any event or occasion you can think of celebrating.

"We offer a variety of packages, from a build-your-own burger bar, to barbecue favorites, to beer-can chicken and teriyaki skirt steak, or even grilled salmon and New York strip steaks," said Lauren Rullo, sales and marketing manager for Weber Grill Restaurants.

"On-site grilling parties are an action station component for your catered event. We bring out grilling experts, along with our portable grilling station, and produce fire-inspired cooking on the spot. Your event will be the talk of the town as we bring the same standards of service from the restaurants to your home, office or park," she continued.

The range of experiences available at the restaurants is extensive. They periodically offer special events like beer dinners, bourbon dinners and wine-tastings. Private party rooms and even private patio spaces may be reserved for business meetings or special celebrations. You can even book one of the rooms for a private cooking class, which might be perfect for a bachelor party or another unique gathering, Rullo said.

A visit to one of the Weber Grill restaurants means you get to enjoy the delicious taste of backyard grilling without having to clean your house or set the tables. You also don't have to cook the steaks or flip the burgers yourself. The restaurants even offer outdoor patios to add to the experience.

The entire Smokey Joe Bar in the Lombard restaurant is even available for private parties, as is the Wine Room and Lakeview Room. In Schaumburg, private party options include the Summit Room off the bar, the Grill Room, which includes a demonstration kitchen and seating for up to 90 people, and the semi-enclosed, three-season patio. In Chicago, you can reserve the entire restaurant for up to 525 people. It also has smaller rooms and the three-season patio for between 30 and 150 guests.

Weber Grill Restaurants, which is still family-owned, also offers Hands On Grilling classes at both the Schaumburg and Lombard locations. Each class focuses on a different theme so you can pick and choose your favorites or attend them all to round-out your grilling expertise. Fees differ, depending on what is being grilled. In fact, party hosts might want to consider hosting a private Hands On Grilling class for their next outing or celebration.

"Our most popular, as of late, has seemed to be the Burger Battle, where groups break into teams to create a burger using the available ingredients," Rullo said. "Their creation is then judged by our Grill Academy chef who watches for grilling technique, temperature accuracy, flavor and presentation. The winning team goes home with bragging rights and a little trophy declaring them the winners. Everyone has a great time, and learns a little something.

"If you are looking for something a little more in-depth, or to wow your clients or guests, our corporate customers have also had us create a class just for them," she added.

The classes run throughout the year and range from grilling basics, to smoking, to how to grill steaks or chops or burgers. There are even classes dedicated specifically to ladies and children. Check the website webergrillrestaurant.com for details.
