Chance that Wyoming running back Woods could return in 2018
LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming coach Craig Bohl says there's a chance that running back Trey Woods will be able to play this fall.
Bohl previously had said that Woods, who led the Cowboys in rushing in 2017, would miss the upcoming season with a shoulder injury that kept him out for most of spring camp.
But on Wednesday, Bohl told the Casper Star-Tribune that Woods' prognosis has improved enough that he may be back this season.
The coach says Woods won't be ready by the first game but could return sometime during the season.
Woods rushed for 474 yards and two touchdowns on a team-high 133 carries last season.
The Cowboys' 3.17 yards per rush last season were sixth-worst in the nation. It was Wyoming's first season without a 500-yard rusher since 2012.
