Des Plaines History Center Hosts Summer Series for Children
Children and their families are invited to explore the major cities of the world this summer at the Des Plaines History Center. The "Summer Adventures" program will be offered Wednesday afternoons during the months of June, July and August. Each month will be an investigation of two different continents.
June begins with a tour of North America and South America: Chicago (June 13), Havana (June 20) and Lima (June 27). July will continue with Europe and Africa: Marseille (July 11), Accra (July 18) and Athens (July 25). We will conclude our world tour in August with Asia and Oceania: Istanbul (Aug. 1), Wellington (Aug. 8) and Kyoto (Aug. 15).
Each activity proceeds from 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday afternoons with the exception of July 4.
"Summer Adventures: Voyages" will be an exploration of the language, history, geography, and art of major international cities.
Interpretive Curator Emma Marston comments on the program: "The world is full of unique histories and cultures, and I'm looking forward to many globe-trotting adventures this summer within the Des Plaines History Center."
All children ages 5-12 are invited to attend with a parent, adult guardian, or their families. General admission is $3 per child to attend the program or $2 per child for families with a Des Plaines History Center membership.
