Aurora teen faces gun-related charges
A 17-year-old was charged with several weapons-related offenses Sunday after a traffic stop in Aurora, police said Wednesday.
Police said the male teen was driving with no front license plate and expired registration when an officer spotted him around 3:50 p.m. on the 500 block of Grand Avenue.
The teen admitted to having a weapon and police said they recovered a loaded and defaced handgun.
Police said the teen was charged with three counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and one count of unlawful possession of a defaced firearm. He also was cited for driving without a license or insurance. He is being held in the Kane County Youth Home.
