Rolling Meadows aldermen formally approve video gambling

Rolling Meadows aldermen have taken a final vote to approve video gambling at bars, restaurants and other establishments.

Only Alderman Rob Banger Jr. voted against permitting the machines during a second reading vote Tuesday. In a first reading tally earlier this month, Tim Veenbaas also voted "no," but he was absent from this week's city council meeting.

Rolling Meadows joins Elk Grove Village, Hoffman Estates, Wheeling and Prospect Heights as Northwest suburban towns that allow the machines. Five percent of net revenue goes to a municipality and 25 percent to the state, with the terminal operator and licensed establishment splitting the remainder.
