Charge: Woman used bitcoin, dark web in murder-for-hire case

WHEATON, Ill. (AP) - A suburban Chicago woman faces charges accusing her of going online and using bitcoin currency to hire someone to kill the wife of a man with whom she was having an affair.
DuPage County prosecutors say 31-year-old Tina Jones of Des Plaines is charged with one felony count of solicitation of murder for hire. Prosecutors say Jones paid a dark web company more than $10,000 in bitcoin to have the woman killed. Authorities say Jones turned herself in Tuesday. Woodridge police received a tip in the case and led an investigation that resulted in the charge.
A judge on Wednesday set Jones' bond at $250,000 and scheduled her arraignment for May 15. Court records did not list a defense attorney who could comment on Jones' behalf.
