Tornatore, Gavanes win GOP nom in DuPage County Board District 1

A DuPage County Board incumbent appeared to win the GOP nomination for one District 1 seat on Tuesday, while an Itasca newcomer is poised to capture the second nomination.

With 100 percent of the precincts reporting, unofficial results show incumbent Sam Tornatore with 6.753 votes, while Dino Gavanes of Itasca took home 4,177 total votes. Paul DeMichele of Bensenville came in third by an extremely slight margin, pulling in 4,052 votes.

The nominees will face Elmhurst Democrats Ashley J. Selmon and Zahra Suratwala in November. Selmon and Suratwala were unopposed during the Democratic primary.

District 1 includes all or portions of Addison, Bensenville, Bloomingdale, Elmhurst, Glendale Heights, Itasca, Lombard, Roselle, Villa Park and Wood Dale.
