Miami women beat Wake Forest in ACC tourney

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - Erykah Davenport had 16 points and eight rebounds and Endia Banks hit a late jumper to help Miami beat Wake Forest 68-60 on Thursday night in the second round of the ACC Tournament.

Keyanna Harris had 13 points, five rebounds and eight assists, while Emese Hof also scored 13 points, for the No. 6 seed Hurricanes. Miami (21-9) will play third-seeded and No. 11 Florida State in the quarterfinals on Friday.

Elisa Penna hit a 3 and converted a 3-point play to spark a 10-2 run that gave 11th-seeded Wake Forest (14-16) its only lead at 58-57 when Ona Udoh made a layup with 2:54 remaining. Harris made 1 of 2 free throws to give the Canes a four-point lead with 48 seconds left and, after Penna hit to foul shots on the other end, Banks hit a pull-up jumper - late in the shot clock - from just inside the 3-point line to make it 64-62.

Harris and Davenport each made two free throws in the final 14 seconds to seal it.

Penna and Alex Sharp scored 17 points apiece for the Demon Deacons.

Miami led by as many as 13 points in the first half and Shaneese Bailey's layup gave the Canes a 47-35 lead with a minute left in the third quarter.
