Maggard, Smith lead No. 24 Belmont women past EKU 95-62

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Darby Maggard and Kylee Smith combined for 49 points, 33 in the first half when Belmont made 11 3-pointers, and the No. 24 Bruins made their debut in the Top 25 an impressive one Thursday night with a 95-62 win over Eastern Kentucky.

Maggard hit 6 of 9 from 3-point range and scored 26 points and Smith was 4 of 5 from distance and had 23. Jenny Roy had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Bruins (25-3, 15-0 Ohio Valley Conference), who won their 16th straight, and Sally McCabe scored 12.

McCabe converted a 3-point play to start a 10-0 run and Belmont led 29-21 after one. A 14-0 run in the second, the last 11 by Maggard, helped push the margin to 55-33 at the half.

Belmont was 14 of 22 from distance and shot 50 percent overall with just two turnovers.

Eastern Kentucky (8-16, 5-10) was led by Abby Wright with 22 points.
