Mississippi State earns share of first SEC title

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Teaira McCowan had 19 points and 11 rebounds and No. 2 Mississippi State earned a share of its first Southeastern Conference title with a 95-50 victory over Vanderbilt on Thursday night.

The Bulldogs (27-0, 13-0) can win the regular-season championship outright with a victory over No. 17 Texas A&M on Sunday.

McCowan, a 6-foot-7 junior center, had her 19th double-double of the season. Senior guard Victoria Vivians also scored 19 points.

Christa Reed led the Commodores (6-21, 2-11) with 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting.

No. 4 LOUISVILLE 87, BOSTON COLLEGE 52

BOSTON (AP) - Asia Durr scored 16 points to help Louisville beat Boston College.

Louisville (26-2, 12-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) was coming off a 69-58 loss at No. 1 Connecticut on Monday night. Sam Fuehring had 14 points and seven rebounds.

Georgia Pineau had 22 points and seven rebounds to lead Boston College (7-9, 2-11).

NO. 5 NOTRE DAME 83, VIRGINIA 69

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - Arike Ogunbowale scored 27 points and No. 5 Notre Dame opened with a 20-2 run to cruise past Virginia.

Marina Mabrey added 16 points, and Jessica Shepard had 15 to help the Irish (24-2, 12-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) win their ninth in a row. Felicia Aiyeotan had 17 points and 11 rebounds for Virginia (16-10, 9-4). J'Kyra Brown also scored 17 points.

No. 8 SOUTH CAROLINA 77, No. 20 GEORGIA 65

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Tyasha Harris scored 20 points, A'Ja Wilson had 18 points and 16 rebounds and South Carolina took control in the second half to beat Georgia.

Alexis Jennings had 19 points, and Bianca Jackson added 13 for South Carolina (21-5, 10-3 Southeastern Conference). Taja Cole led Georgia (21-5, 9-4) with 12 points.

PURDUE 75, No. 10 MARYLAND 65

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) - Dominique Oden made two straight 3-pointers late in the game, and Purdue shocked Maryland to end the Terrapins' seven-game winning streak.

Although Maryland (22-4, 11-2) remains atop the Big Ten, the three-time defending conference champions hold a tenuous one-game lead over Ohio State and Nebraska with three to play.

Andreona Keys scored 17 points for Purdue (17-10, 8-5), and Karissa McLaughlin had 15. Kaila Charles led Maryland with 14 points.

ALABAMA 72, No. 11 TENNESSEE 63

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Jordan Lewis scored 14 of her 19 points in the fourth quarter and Alabama beat Tennessee in Knoxville for the first time in school history.

Alabama (16-10, 6-7 Southeastern Conference) has beaten Tennessee four straight times overall after losing 42 consecutive games in the series from 1984-2016. Tennessee (21-5, 9-4) leads the series 49-6.

Ashley Williams added 16 points for Alabama. Jaime Nared had 22 for Tennessee.

No. 12 FLORIDA STATE 91, CLEMSON 43

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Shakayla Thomas scored 19 points, Imani Wright had 16 and Florida State beat Clemson for the 18th straight time.

Florida State (22-4, 10-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) has won four straight. Kobi Thornton had 17 points for Clemson (11-16, 1-13). The Tigers hace dropped eighth in a row.

No. 13 MISSOURI 59, AUBURN 51

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Jordan Frericks scored 19 points and Missouri held off Auburn.

Sophie Cunningham added 12 points for Missouri (21-5, 9-4 Southeastern Conference).

Janiah McKay had 18 points for Auburn (13-12, 4-9).

No. 14 STANFORD 74, CALIFORNIA 69

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) - Kiana Williams scored a career-high 26 points and Stanford won its seventh straight, beating California despite not making a shot for the final eight minutes.

After Kaylee Johnson's basket with 8:04 to play put the Cardinal (19-8, 13-2 Pac-12) on top 65-51, they missed nine shots and had three turnovers. Asha Thomas had 20 points for Cal (17-9, 8-7).

SYRACUSE 68, No. 17 DUKE 65

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Tiana Mangakahia scored 19 points, including the winning 3-pointer with 57 seconds left, and Syracuse upended Duke.

After Mangakahia's basket, Duke missed five 3-pointers.

Isis Young had 16 points for the Orange (19-7, 8-7 Atlantic Coast Conference). Lexie Brown scored 20 points for the Blue Devils (20-7, 9-5).

No. 17 TEXAS A&M 85, FLORIDA 80

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) - Chennedy Carter scored 28 points and Texas A&M rallied to beat Florida.

Anriel Howard added 21 points and 12 rebounds for the Aggies (20-7, 9-4 Southeastern Conference).

Funda Nakkasoglu had 24 points for the Gators (10-16, 2-11).

CLEVELAND STATE 71, No. 19 GREEN BAY 60

CLEVELAND (AP) - Ashanti Abshaw, Khayla Livingston and Olivia Voskuhl each scored 21 points and Cleveland State ended Green Bay's 11-game winning streak.

The Vikings (18-8, 10-5 Horizon League) had lost 15 straight in the series.

Jessica Lindstrom had 23 points and a career-high 21 rebounds for the Phoenix (22-3, 12-2) to tie Julie Wojta's school record of 35 double-doubles.

No. 24 BELMONT 95, EASTERN KENTUCKY 62

Darby Maggard scored 26 points, and Kylee Smith had 23 and Belmont made its debut in the Top 25 with a victory over Eastern Kentucky.

Maggard was 6 of 9 from 3-point range, and Smith was 4 of 5 to help the Bruins (25-3, 15-0 Ohio Valley) win their 16th straight game. Abby Wright had 22 points for Eastern Kentucky (8-16, 5-10).
