Muncie police seek 8 who stole $6K in merchandise from store

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - Police are seeking the public's help in finding eight people who were captured on video brazenly stealing $6,000 in merchandise from a Muncie store.

Muncie police sought tips in the case Wednesday after releasing surveillance videos showing seven people entering a Victoria's Secret store at the Muncie Mall and swiftly filling plastic bags with clothing before fleeing. An eighth person served as lookout during the Feb. 7 heist in the east-central Indiana city.

Capt. Joe Todd tells The Star Press the group, believed to be seven women and one man, took jackets, tights and other merchandise with an estimated value of $6,000 and left the mall's parking lot together in a minivan.

Authorities believe one of the women also stole items from the store with an accomplice on Feb. 5.
