Son charged with murder in father's Rockford stabbing death

ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) - Police say a 21-year-old Rockford man is charged with murder in his father's stabbing death.

The Rockford Register Star reports that Justin T. Joiner is being held on $1 million bond and due in court Thursday in the death of 52-year-old David Joiner, who was stabbed in the chest.

Police were called to a Rockford home at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday when they found David Joiner suffering from a stab wound. Winnebago County Coroner Bill Hintz says David Joiner was pronounced dead later that evening at a hospital. Rockford police conducted the investigation. David Joiner's death is the first homicide of the year in Rockford.

Court records don't list an attorney for Justin Joiner who could comment on his behalf and there are no phone listings for him.
