Tiger Williams accused of sexual assault on military flight

OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) - Dave "Tiger" Williams was arrested by military police Friday, two days after the NHL penalty minutes king was charged with two counts of sexual assault and assault for incidents on a Canadian Forces aircraft.

The Canadian Forces Provost Marshal's office said a woman reported during the December flight that Williams assaulted her. Williams was taking part in a morale trip to Latvia.

Williams was released from custody on a promise to appear in court. A hearing date has not yet been set. While the military laid the charges, the case will go to civilian court in Ottawa, where the flight originated.

The 64-year-old Williams had 241 goals, 272 assists and a staggering 3,966 penalty minutes in 962 NHL regular-season games from 1974 to 1988 with Toronto, Vancouver, Detroit, Los Angeles and Hartford.
