Auburn rehires JB Grimes as its offensive line coach

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - JB Grimes is returning for his second stint as Auburn's offensive line coach.

Auburn coach Gus Malzahn announced Wednesday that Grimes will replace Herb Hand, who left to become co-offensive coordinator and line coach at Texas.

Grimes coached at Auburn from 2013-15, helping the Tigers to the BCS championship game and a Southeastern Conference title in his first season.

Grimes left to coach Cincinnati's offensive line in 2016 and spent last season in the same post at UConn.

The 30-plus year coaching veteran also worked under Malzahn in 2012 at Arkansas State.

Grimes' resignation from coach Randy Edsall's UConn staff comes a week after former Chicago Bears assistant coach John Dunn was hired to be the team's new offensive coordinator.
