Ela Soccer Club takes over Kits Sports Center in Lake Zurich

The Ela Soccer Club said Thursday it has acquired the former Kits Sports Center in Lake Zurich.

The facility will now be known as the Lake Zurich Sportsplex. The complex is a 58,000-square-foot multisport facility consisting of two full-size indoor fields, one half-size indoor field, a full-size basketball/volleyball court, offices, meeting/party rooms and locker rooms with showers.

"Today is a great win for Ela Soccer and the entire Lake Zurich community," said Ela Soccer President Doug Anderson. "Ela Soccer continues to set the standard as one of the best youth soccer organizations and becomes one of the only youth soccer clubs in the area with its own indoor facility."

Kits Sports Center fell into disrepair through the foreclosure process and was taken back by its lender, Byline Bank, in October 2017. Since then Ela Soccer Club has been under contract and going through the due diligence process, Anderson said.

Major improvements to repair the facility are set to begin immediately with a grand opening date to be set in June.

At that time, the facility will be the home of the Ela Soccer Club offices and all of their indoor soccer training, indoor leagues and programs. Current Ela Soccer training, indoor leagues and programs will continue to operate out of the Mainstreet Sports Center until that date.

The former Kits facility will also be open to other teams and organizations to use when it opens.

Ela Soccer Club is a private 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with more than 1,300 youth soccer players from the greater Ela Township area including Lake Zurich, Hawthorn Woods, Long Grove, Kildeer, Deer Park, North Barrington, Palatine, Mundelein, Barrington, Wauconda and surrounding areas.

"The entire area benefits as the facility will remain as a multipurpose sports center," Anderson said.
