Chicago man sentenced in North Dakota heroin overdoses

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A Chicago man charged in connection with a series of heroin overdoses in Williston last year has been sentenced to six years in federal prison.

Court documents show that 23-year-old Sylvester McCurry pleaded guilty to a drug conspiracy charge in a deal with prosecutors. He was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court in Bismarck.

McCurry was among six people indicted in the case. Authorities say heroin supplied by the ring was responsible for seven overdoses, including one that was fatal, over a weeklong stretch in January 2016.
