Defense propels Butler to 23-6 win over Stetson

DELAND, Fla. (AP) - MIke Cerone and Ethan Brunhofer returned interceptions for touchdowns and Butler cruised to a 23-6 win over Stetson on Saturday.

Anthony Scaccia put Butler (6-4, 4-3 Pioneer Football League) on the board in the second quarter with a 5-yard touchdown run to cap an eight-play, 80-yard drive and give the Bulldogs the lead for good, 7-6.

Cerone's interception return was 42 yards for a third quarter touchdown and Brunhofer had a 70-yard interception return for the game's final TD late in the fourth. The Butler defense also got a fourth quarter safety, sacking Stetson's Cole Martin in the end zone.

Stetson (2-8, 1-6) jumped out to a 6-0 lead midway through the opening quarter with a 20-yard touchdown pass from Colin McGovern to Justin Jordan. The Hatters missed the extra point kick.
