Man arrested after pointing gun at Chicago police officer

CHICAGO (AP) - A man is charged with attempted murder after he allegedly pointed a gun at a Chicago police officer's chest.

In a news release, the police department says 33-year-old James Harrison is also charged with felony counts of disarming a police officer, aggravated battery and being an armed habitual criminal.

Police say the incident happened Sunday afternoon. Harrison was with a group of young men when an officer approached to interview them. Harrison fled. The officer chased him on foot and during a struggle, Harrison pulled a handgun out of a pocket and pointed it at the officer.

They say when the officer grabbed the gun, Harrison pulled a second gun from his pocket. The officer took that gun away and then he and other officers overpowered Harrison.
