Fire badly damages barns at Indiana egg-producing facility

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. (AP) - A fire burning for hours destroyed several large barns at an egg-producing facility in northern Indiana.

WPTA-TV reports that crews responded late Monday to the fire at Hi-Grade Egg Producers near the Wabash County city of North Manchester. No injuries were reported from the fire, which was visible from several miles away.

WANE-TV reports winds helped spread the fire to multiple barns before it was brought under control about 5 a.m. Tuesday. Four structures at the facility appeared to be destroyed. Officials say firefighters from 22 departments responded to the scene about 30 miles (48 kilometers) west of Fort Wayne.

Officials didn't immediately know what caused the fire.
