'Person of interest' in Vermont murder arrested in Illinois
MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont man charged with stealing the car of a woman whose body was found over an embankment last week is in custody in Illinois.
Vermont State Police say 61-year-old Randal Gebo was arrested Wednesday in Downers Grove, Illinois, after a traffic stop.
Police say Gebo was driving the 2009 Mini Cooper that belonged to 59-year-old Cindy Cook of Barre (BARE-ee).
Cook's body was found July 12 in Middlesex, just outside the capital of Montpelier, and authorities have called Gebo a "person of interest" in the investigation into her death.
Gebo is wanted on charges of car theft and credit card fraud. Police traced his movements across the country through use of Cook's debit card.
Federal prosecutors in Vermont have obtained a federal warrant for Gebo. He's due to appear Thursday in federal court in Illinois.

This story and its headline have been corrected to say Gebo is a "person of interest" in the murder, not a suspect.
