Term-limited Des Plaines clerk says goodbye

Des Plaines City Clerk Gloria Ludwig bid an early adieu to residents and fellow city council members this week.

Ludwig won't join in the formal transition of power at the next city council meeting May 1, when newly elected officials take the oath of office.

"I'm going to Disney World with my husband," she said.

Ludwig is term limited, and she lost a bid for the same job in Maine Township by less than 1 percent in the April 4 election.

"It's been a pleasure working with all of you," Ludwig said. "I would encourage the new officials to pursue education."
