Flooding reported along Des Plaines River in Lake County

This week's heavy rains have caused flooding along the Des Plaines River in Gurnee, Lincolnshire and elsewhere.

The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued flood warnings for the river near those towns in Lake County and near Des Plaines in Cook County, as well as for other rivers in northern Illinois.

Barricades have been added to prevent motorists on some Gurnee streets because they're under water. Portions of the Des Plaines River Trail are closed to the public, too.

In Lincolnshire, sand and sand bags are available at Spring Lake Park for people concerned about water near their homes or businesses.

More than 2 inches of rain fell in the region in the last 48 hours, the weather service reported.

Water levels along the river are expected to drop below flood stage Saturday morning.

Elsewhere, a no-wake order has been issued for boaters on the Fox River. A warning about debris also has been issued for the river.
