Aurora chase fugitive caught in Quincy

An Aurora man who left a hospital Tuesday after being charged with leading police on a chase was caught Thursday morning at a relative's house in Quincy, authorities said.

Bill Cole Jr., 38, of the 2100 block of Grayhawk Drive, was the subject of a manhunt after he left Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Cole was facing five felony charges after leading Kane County sheriff's deputies on a car chase through Aurora Monday afternoon. The chase ended when Cole crashed a Ford Fusion into a traffic signal pole at the southwest corner of Route 25 and Ashland Avenue.

A 27-year-old passenger in the Fusion also was injured in the crash. The passenger was not charged.

Cole was arrested about 10:40 a.m. Thursday without incident, Kane County Sheriff Lt. Pat Gengler said. He noted the U.S. Marshals Service Central District of Illinois and Northern District of Illinois, along with the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force and Adams County Sheriff's Office, assisted in the arrest.

Cole is next due in court April 12.
