Wish granted: 'Aladdin' conjures up extra 10 weeks in Chicago
It will be "A Whole New World" a bit longer for Disney's "Aladdin" in Chicago. An extra 10 weeks have been added to the Windy City launch of the North American tour.
Disney Theatrical Group president and producer Thomas Schumacher made the announcement at a Chicago news conference before rehearsals on Thursday.
"The only way things stay is if the audience wants to see them," said Schumacher about strong "Aladdin" ticket demand. "We had enough flexibility with venues after this so we could extend."
The hit 2014 Broadway stage adaptation of Disney's 1992 animated film "Aladdin" begins preview performances at the Cadillac Palace Theatre on Tuesday, April 11. Tickets for the extension from Wednesday, July 5, through Sunday, Sept. 10, go on sale Friday, April 7. For information, call (800) 775-2000 or visit broadwayinchicago.com.
