District 102 authorizes $25 million bond sale

Aptakisic-Tripp Elementary District 102 school board members Monday authorized the district to sell up to $25 million in bonds to expand classroom space.

The district's estimated the $19 million to $25 million plan will increase classroom space to accommodate 280 students per grade, compared to the current 250 students at each level.

Under the plan, the district will reorganize the grade levels at each of its five schools and add significant space to Aptakisic Junior High. The plan also includes renovations at other schools.

The district does not intend to use the full amount of alternate bond funds because reserve money is available, officials said. Construction could begin by October, officials said.
