A motorcyclist was injured Sunday evening after crashing into a sign along Route 64 near Lily Lake, Kane County sheriff's Lt. Pat Gengler said.

The motorcycle was traveling west on Route 64 about 5:15 p.m. when it left the road for an unknown reason and hit the sign, he said. The crash occurred west of Woolery Road.

The driver, described as a man in his 50s, was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva with potentially life-threatening injuries, Gengler said. Police are not yet releasing his identity.
