Endorsements: Adachi, DeWaele, Gatbunton and Hollatz for Lake Park High School District 108

Experience is not an issue among the five candidates running for four seats on the Lake Park High School District 108 Board.

Incumbents Claire Adachi and Keri DeWaele are both seeking re-election. Janice Gatbunton and Thomas Hollatz were both appointed to the board in 2016.

Gatbunton was picked for the board after the death of Doug Denson. Hollatz replaced Judith Briggs, who resigned for personal reasons after serving more than 12 years.

Gatbunton and Hollatz were appointed to the board in 2016. Both served on elementary school district boards before joining the District 108 board. Gatbunton served on the Itasca District 10 board for one term and Hollatz served on the Roselle District 12 board.

Ray "Al" Kubalewski is seeking a seat on the board. He is currently a member of the Medinah District 11.

District 108 is solid shape financially, and the current board and administration seem to work well together.

Kubalewski's District 11 board experience certainly could transfer nicely to District 108, but we see no reason to stall the momentum that's represented in the four incumbents. The Daily Herald endorses Adachi, DeWaele, Gatbunton and Hollatz.
