2 injured in fiery crash in Sugar Grove Township

Two men were injured in a fiery crash early Monday in Sugar Grove Township when one of them drove into a no-passing zone and hit a driver headed the opposite way, police said.

Daniel Scott, 22, of the 3200 block of Tamaira Street in Plano, was charged with violating a no-passing zone.

Kane County Sheriff's deputies were called to a crash at 6 a.m. on Ashe Road about a mile north of Baseline Road. They determined that a Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by Scott, was driving north on Ashe. It hit a Chevy Cruze driving south.

After the crash, the Pontiac caught on fire.

Scott and the driver of the Cruze, a 54-year-old Hinckley man, were taken to a hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

They were the only people in their vehicles.
